Meet the Founder

My name is JJ Blackshaw, and after more than six years in radio as an on-air personality, programmer, and senior sales lead, I decided it was time to bring something new — and something real — to Wyoming country music.

I’ve worked across Cheyenne stations, building loyal audiences, boosting listenership, and helping local businesses grow through the power of connection. But over time, I noticed something missing: country radio wasn’t telling our stories anymore. It was overrun by corporate playlists and out-of-town programming that didn’t reflect the heart of the West.

That’s why I launched Hardwired Country — a station built in Cheyenne, for Cheyenne. Live. Local. Loud. We’re here to celebrate the sound and spirit of the people who make this community what it is — hardworking, kind, and unapologetically proud of where we come from.

Hardwired Country isn’t just about the music (though we’ve got plenty of the good stuff from the ’90s to today). It’s about connection — lifting up local artists, supporting nonprofits like The RISE Foundation of Wyoming and We Matter 2 Pet Rescue, and giving our community a place where their voices are heard.

Hardwired Country is more than a station — it’s a reminder that real country lives right here in Wyoming.
